Location and Size:
Chad Basin National Park is located in the sudano-sahelian ecological zone of the northeastern part of Nigeria between Borno and Yobe States. It covers a total area of 2,258 km2 that is geographically situated within latitude 110 00’ - 130 00’ N and longitude 130 00’ - 150 30’E.
Sectors:
The Park is dotted across Borno and Yobe States in three (3) independent ecological systems of considerable conservation importance. The sectors are Chingurmi-Duguma, Bade Nguru Wetlands and Bulatura Oases.
- Chingurmi-Duguma Sector
This sector is the largest of the three covering an area of 1,228Km2. It is situated in Woloji and Gulumba Districts of Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. The sector is dominated by an Acacia-Balanites woodland complex inter-spaced with a dense stand of Elephant grass Sorghum aethiopium in definitely stratified formation to add to the natural beauty of the ecosystem.
The sector is ecologically considered as an extension of the sahelian zone and is contagious with Waza National Park in the Republic of Cameroon. Geographically it is located between latitude 11030’- 120’N and longitude 13030’- 15000’E.
- Bade-Nguru Wetlands Sector
This sector is part of the internationally renowned Hadejia-Nguru Wetlands. It covers an area of 938KM2. Situated southwest of Bade and Jakusko Local Government Areas of Yobe State, the sector is located between latitude 120 13’ and 130 00’N and longitude 100 00’- 110 00’E. The focal point of the sector is the Dagona Waterfowl Sanctuary that is internationally significant as a host to migrant birds. As a measure of the sanctuary’s international importance, some important dignitaries visited the sanctuary in the past. these include the past president of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Prince Bernhardt of Netherlands and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh visited the site in 1987 and 1989 respectively. This was followed by a visit by the Prince and late Princess of Wales in 1990.
- Bulatura Sector
 Sand Dunes Climbing, Bulatura Sector
The sector is located in Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State and covers an area of 92KM2. It is made up of a series of a fertile inter dunal depressions (Swampy valleys) referred to as Oases that are rich in the deposits of potash. Other features of this sector include the highly scenic sand dues that have great potential for ecoturism. The sector is geographically located between latitude 130 00’ and 130 30’N and 110 00’E.
