Sport fishing:
 Hippopotamus Pool at Gashaka sector of the Park
Of all the seven Parks, Gashaka-Gumti has the most ideal spots for sport-fishing, one of which is Mayo Kam near the Hippo-pool water that, in the dry season at least are crystal clear and literally teaming with bold, bright fish of many different varieties ranging from tiger fish, catfish etc.
Mountaineering:
Gashaka-Gumti has a very rugged undulating mountainous terrain, excellent for mountaineering and cave exploration. It contains the highest mountain summit in Nigeria - the venerable “Chappal Waddi”, which literally means “the mountain of death” standing at an altitude of 2,400 meters above sea level. It is located in the Gotel mountain range. The terrain has hot springs, deep valleys, and waterfalls, many networks of rivers, rivulets and streams.
Primate watching:
Forests around Chappal Waddi, Chappal Hendu, Chappal Yumti, Chappal Sirgu and Kwano forest are good places for primate-watching and tracking. If chimpanzees are not physically sighted at Kwano, certainly their nests or calls are quite visible and audible, as the Park is reputed to contain the highest concentration of Chimpanzee in West African sub-region.
Wilderness trekking:
Gashaka-Gumti National Park wildest and most beautiful areas are mostly accessible by footpath, and only by trakking through the forests and mountains of the park with many of the rarer, more unusual animals be revealed to give a visitor its fullest wilderness experience.
