Okomu National Park is the only rain forest National Park situated west of the river Niger. The park is under threat of poaching and logging therefore there is the need to support conservation effort.
You may wish to write your name in gold by supporting the protection of Okomu National Park in the areas of provision of patrol vehicles 4 wheel drive; portable borehole water for the communities; construction of Ranger Barracks; Provision of communication gadgets; sponsoring research activities in floral and faunal resources of the Park; placement of publicity and promotion materials like billboard and signboard.

The Okomu National Park recognises the role of community and youth in conserving and protecting the natural environment. The management therefore endeavour to create series of awareness amongst the communities and schools to further encourage them in supporting the National Park conservation efforts. The management is putting in place a meaningful community base development programme.
RESEARCH AND MEDICINAL PLANTS
Okomu National Park is a rich ecosystem with diverse bio components. The following are the records available:
700 species of butterflies with some new to science specifically hired glider Cymothoe hypatha; 231 species of bird life some endangered for instance grey parrot; 94 species of fauna with some endangered especifically white throated monkey, chimpanzee, forest elephant, forest buffaloes; 150 species of plants and about 67 with medicinal values; 73 species of amphibians (frogs), etc
